Hello. Hello. Welcome back to The Purpose in Pixie Dust podcast. Lindsay Dollinger here for an episode about setting up your day for success. So super quickly before we dive in, I do want to read the review of the week, which left my phone just as I was saying that, so I'm gonna pull it up. Um, you know, if you are unfamiliar with how podcasts get found, really it's a few ways. Um, it's word of mouth from you guys.

That's why I'm always like, take a screenshot of this as you're listening to this, tag me and your stories. Post it, tell your friends about it. Um, that and through searching and when people pull up the podcast on the podcast app, if there's a place for rating and reviews, which on Apple podcasts there is, um, people go to it, I know I look at it and if it doesn't have, um, either multiple five star reviews, all five star reviews, some comments, I'm like, ah, I don't really know. Like, I'll maybe give it a try. Maybe I won't. So that's why if you were listening to podcasts and people are always talking about their rating and reviews , that's why, because we, um, we love them as podcasters and it helps our show get found. So anyway, all right, review of the week. This one is super short, but I love it.

And this is all it has to be friends. So this one's titled Relevant and Fun. It's by Sarah Gates, I believe, and she says, so relevant and fun, just what I needed to create my own magic, exactly what my point is. So thank you so much Sarah, for that nice review. If you have yet to leave the show review, please go ahead and scroll down. If you're listening an Apple podcast, or even if you're not, you can go to Apple Podcasts, actually I believe from a computer and leave a review that way. So anyway, all right, let's dive in. How to set your day up for success. So I am not a master at this. I will, I will say that, and I am always constantly learning. Um, but I'm gonna talk to you about some things that I have done, um, especially really well this school year specifically.

You know, I'm a high school Spanish teacher, um, and I have been for 14 years, so I do that. I almost, I almost just sat on the side basically it feels like on the side because I am running this business as well, uh, my business coaching and podcasting. So it's really important for me and for you because I know you have some big goals as well to set your day up for success. And that starts first thing in the morning, right? So very first thing in the morning, my number one tip is to get up as early as you can slash feels good for you, um, so that you can give yourself some time to focus on your personal goals, to work your business a little bit if you still have a full-time job, if that's what you wanna do to get your workout in, if that's what you wanna do.

So hopefully you are seeing a theme here, if that's what you want to do. So waking up early, this is the first year ever literally ever that I have basically not walked into work when it's like my contracted time or after my contracted time, if we're being completely honest. Um, I have really made a pattern and I'm really proud of that and it feels really good to get myself up a little bit early to have that space to eat breakfast leisurely, to walk my dog to do something for me and my business. Meditate if it feels right, work out, if it feels right. Um, so I'm not someone with like a set daily routine as far as a morning routine, um, especially while I am still working. I do kind of have one on the weekends and in the summer, but my tip is to wake up as early as feels good for you to have the time that you need in the morning.

Going into that is . This might sound counter counterproductive to what I just said, but is to create a morning routine. So I don't think though it has to be a rigid routine, but just including activities that really help you feel calm, centered, prepared, ready for your day and to set the tone for your day. So, you know, part of my routine is that I don't check social media, I don't check email or anything like that until I am completely ready for the day. I've done everything that I want to do for the day. Um, and lots of times it's after I have already listened to podcasts, driven to my day job, got in to my day job, and then I'm there plenty early, and then I can use that time to, you know, check social if I want to. Also key there if I want to.

- So creating your morning routine, this could be adding in some sort of movement, meditation, yoga, reading, journaling, whatever that looks like for you, um, can be super helpful to setting you up for success. Step three, prioritize your tasks. Now, I do this on the weekends for the week ahead. I'm a huge fan of this, but I also like to do it the night before and look at it again in the morning. So I am always looking at what are my top three things that I wanna get accomplished for the day. I make a list of the most important things that need to get done full-time job and for my business. And this helps me stay super focused and avoid feeling overwhelmed again, do what works for you. Trial and error. This, um, I did this for a really long time with sticky notes. I have done it with reminders of my phone.

I've also done it while, um, printing out my planner and tracker system that is available to you also. I've done it all the ways, you know, so do what works for you. Tip four is to batch out your work. So I talked about this a lot. If you are in my how to get two hours or how to do your business in less than two hours a day challenge that we did last week, I talked about this, I've talked about this many a time as well in my membership and I'm sure on here too. But I like to batch my work, meaning I group similar tasks together and work on them during specific times or specific days of the week. Additionally, with batching work, I like to work as ahead as far as I can so that it's never like, oh, I have a podcast, I'm going out in less than 24 hours and now I'm feeling stressed and now my energy and, you know, those good vibes aren't gonna be there.

So I like to group those similar tasks together, you know, do some content planning, write my posts and write my social, write my emails. And that really allows me to do all of that when I am in a good energy because I also know what part of the day and what time of month I have more energy and, you know, when I'm gonna have, it keeps going back to like good vibes and the energy. But I've been super self-aware the last couple years of like, okay, what part of the day do I perform best? Okay, then I need to save that time and that energy for me to do x, y, Z tasks in my business. So batching work out and planning that ahead as well is a super great way to set yourself up for success. Tip five, take breaks. , allow yourself some time to recharge throughout the day, whether it's taking a walk outside or, you know, enjoying your favorite beverage with a friend, happy hour, whatever.

This is gonna help you stay energized and focused, but you have to, you know, plan stuff where you have breaks in between it for your mental sanity. You know, use this time to get a the, in that step count so that maybe you're not thinking of it as a break if you're someone who has a hard time wrapping your mind mind around the idea of a break, but allow yourself to take those breaks. Tip six and this one. Um, yeah, I guess it goes. Yeah, nevermind. Okay, so tips six is to stay organized. I love using Trello. I love using my calendars and planner systems. Um, I love being able to keep my workspace and my home as clean and tidy as possible. Noticed I said as possible because there are definitely times that it is not clean and tidy , and I'm doing a ton of decluttering this summer.

It is already scheduled in my calendar. Um, but as much of this that we can do to stay on top of things, you know, creating systems in our business, keeping the spreadsheets of the clients, setting reminders of when you need to follow up with people, when invoices need to be sent, all of that. Um, and then also looking at that sort of stuff, especially if it's in your business and saying, okay, where can I create some systems and some workflow so that I don't have to be the one sending the invoices? Like, is there some sort of program I can use to do this? Um, and so that helps me a lot as well. So I have set up those systems, like for example, when a guest books to be on the podcast, I have set emails that go out and reminders and it's completely hands off for me, which is super nice.

So what are some ways you can get organized, both personal life and in your business to help your day be smoother? Dive into that. Maybe this would be a great social media post, asking people, Hey, how do you stay organized? What do you do? People love to share, stuff like that. Tip seven, stay positive my friend. Surround yourself with positive affirmations, positive people, and really focus on the progress you're making because you are making it rather than any setbacks that come along your way. This is going to help set your day up for success so much in comparison to if you are not doing this . So if you, um, you know, are constantly hearing negative thoughts in your brain from maybe yourself or from other people you're around, people who like to gossip and lie and whatever, or put you down, put themselves down, that's going to, again, we're going back to that energy.

It's going to change your energy, it's going to change what you're able to put out. So then it's going to change what you're able to attract into your life. So make sure that you are staying positive and surrounding yourself with that positivity. The best possible way that you can. Tip eight, stay connected with others. You know, reach out to friends. And, and I'm not just saying, um, business on this. I do definitely want you to have mentors, coaches, business friends who can surpri surprise, who can provide support and guidance on your journey in entrepreneurship. But also I want you to have like real friends , like, like someone that you can call up because you just saw, um, the cutest dog posted and you want your friend to, to talk you out of buying it, right? So like, you know, we're humans. This is human nature to be around it and be connected with others to have that sort of community.

So stay connected with other people, you know, find, um, some networking. Find I am for example, here in Columbus, Ohio, a part of the Beauty Boost. I'm actually an ambassador for them, so let me know if you want some information about them. But they do lots of in-person events, um, for women. So, you know, find, find some group, a group of amazing women to support you and don't forget to stay connected with them cuz it can be really, really easy to not, you know, to not . I guess I'm a I'm a woman of many words tonight. Um, but it can be really easy to let a month and two months go by and you're like, oh my gosh, I haven't actually talked to someone outside of the business realm in a really long time. Do that. That will help set your day up for success when you know that you are have a really fun, um, you know, girls night coming up.

Tip number nine, stay flexible. Things are gonna come up in our day and you're going to wake up in the morning and have this beautiful idea, idea of how the day is gonna go and you're gonna envision it and you can feel it and all this stuff, and then something's gonna happen. Your kid's gonna get sick, your dog's gonna get sick. Um, your, i, you know, all the things could happen. I don't wanna put all that energy on it in universe, but things can happen. So just stay flexible. Um, you know, be willing to adjust your schedule a little bit. That's also part of the reason that we build in those break times throughout the day is to allow for that. Um, but also the cool thing with being flexible and having some of that open space is then you are also open to new opportunities because you never know what is coming your way, especially when you are showing the universe, source, whomever, that you are open to it because you have cleared up your schedule for an hour on Wednesday.

So like, okay, universe, what are you sending to me during this time? Um, so just be flexible. You never know what could happen. And Tim, number 10, remember your why. We talk about this a lot. This is called the Purpose and Pixie Dust podcast, right? So what is your why, why are you doing this? What is your big purpose in the world? Remind yourself of why you're building your dream business and that impact that you wanna make. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals so much more than going through the day and never constantly reminding yourself of why you were doing the things. So those are the 10 business tips I have. I guess we're not even all business but 10 tips I have for setting your day up for success so you can work your full-time job and your business. Because I am a firm believer that with the right set of mindset, um, I guess not, yeah, set of mindset and habits, you can achieve your goals and make your dreams of reality. So go out there, my dear friend, create and own your magic, and I will talk to you so, so soon. Bye-bye.

And that's a wrap on today's episode. I hope you're leaving today Inspired Princess to create own and spread your magic to the world.
