Hey friend, welcome back to a tip Thursday episode of the purpose and pixie dust podcast. Sometimes it's a habit and I want to say the name that this show was previously, which was the social selling sisterhood, so I've been really having to like be very intentional about how I speak at my intros. So hello, hello, welcome back to another episode. Whether you've been listening brand new, this is your first one or you remember this show when it was the social selling sisterhood, I'm so thankful for you and I feel like I don't say it enough, so I wanted to be sure to say to you now, so I want to come at you biz tip Thursday episodes are super short quick, hopefully actionable, sometimes inspirational.
Today I just want you to think about if you don't already know very obviously, but how are you different? And what I mean by that is how are you different from your competition because at this point in the game online, unless you have created your own product, your own company um and even then chances are your product does the same thing that someone else's product does Within reason, it might not be exactly 100% the same, but how are you different so that people are going to become your clients and not by the other thing and this can be a really tricky thing for women to figure out, especially I find my network marketing followers or you know, just like my out school teachers like how are you and your classes different so that people are knocking down your doors decided for your course than everyone else's.
Why are people buying lipstick from you and not their great aunt by the way? And I will say through my years in business, I have been so like honored with so much gratitude when people share with me, like you know, my sister in law sells this, but I buy from you and lots of times the feedback they have given me is either I buy from you because I know you're serious about this and you're actually doing this as a business with big goals, whereas she just does it as a hobby. Um A lot a lot, a lot of people have told me that over the years, which made me feel very happy because you know, that's like your hard work paying off and people noticing what you're doing and that's you and listening to people and getting them on board with your vision, and that can be really hard for it. Like we feel maybe like we're saying this stuff over and over and over again if we're talking about our why. Um but it's really nice when you hear that from people for them to give you that feedback. Like I'm doing this because you're working really hard and I can tell and I see you showing up and I want to support you as a business owner.
So that's one way that you can be different because honestly, when I, even when I look at my, you know, my social media feeds and I see my friends who are selling the same things, I can instantly tell the women who are investing in themselves, who are getting coaching, who are doing something different and I can tell the women who it's more a hobby, which is totally fine. I want to make that clear, totally fine. But I think you're listening to this podcast probably because you are building a business rather than a hobby. Let's get that straight right now. So I don't think there's anything bad with the women who are doing it for a hobby at all? But you're usually investing yourself and treating it more seriously if it's a business. Um, and I can tell the people who are taking the time and are like the coolest thing is to see the evolution of someone's social media from where they are just posting about, you know, their family and their friends and their kids and their product every once in a while to like a true social media brand as a marketer and as a businesswoman myself, when I watch people do that, I'm like, oh, that girl's taking some branding classes. She's getting things figured out. She is starting to take things more seriously. Like I just love that. I think that's so cool. But you can totally tell those people right versus the people who don't care are not investing in themselves are just copying and pasting are stealing all of everyone else's ideas and usually it's honestly copy and pasting, throwing up things that their company is telling them to making you feel icky and making you want to follow them, right? We can immediately feel those things. So that's one way that we can be different.
But the other way is just, you know, what can you do in your business or even in your brand that is just a little bit different. So are you gonna be the girl who is known for sending a personalized thank you card with orders when people order and always telling people thank you. Do you tag people on social media or in your stories when people do an order and shout them out that way, Maybe that's you. Um maybe you make sure to always follow up within a week of an order and give people suggestions. Maybe you offer to hop on a zoom and do like a personalized makeup tutorial with your clients, which I think would be super cool. Um you know like what are you offering that is going to be almost like that carrot that you dangle in front of people to start buying from you at first and then they keep coming back to you because they love you. They have fallen in love with you as their provider of X, Y. Z. Service and you're providing awesome customer service, you're making them feel really awesome and honestly a lot of times you're making them feel like one of their girlfriends who is supporting them and cheering them on your, your friends on social media, You know, you ask them about their personal life, so things are on a different level. That's how you build those loyal clients.
Now, I did mention that it could be a piece of your brand. So I will say that a lot of people that I have gotten referrals from in the past um and they'll introduce me to one of their friends will be like, hey, you need to buy blank product from my friend Lindsay. Um I love following her because I watch all of her travel posts or I live vicariously through her traveling. So I'm kind of known for the traveling Disney side of things. Um sometimes people will connect with me because we're teachers. Um you know, so there's other little components in my brand too, but that can be something else. So it can be like a strand or something that you have in common with people. And because you have that one thing in common, they see your post or they know that you also sell this product, whatever product it is you sell. And so they're going to naturally think of you to go to with that product because they follow you for other things. So that's the third piece of this. So first piece are you treating your business seriously? And can people tell that our people on board with your mission, do they know what your mission is? Because you're telling people about it and you're not just telling people about it, but you're living it, you're living that lifestyle, you are living it and you are sharing it and you are documenting it as you go. So, people can tell how serious because when people can see it, they don't need to be told, right, That's how it is with anything. They don't need to be told necessarily that you're losing weight when they can see it when you're showing up online all the time and they're like, oh my gosh, you've definitely lost weight, what are you doing? Right? Isn't that so much better than like before after picture slapped up? Not saying that can't work from time to time, but that's not. I have some people, especially my health coaches and it's like 10 different before and after pictures every day and I'm like, how many of these can we see? Right, that sort of thing.
So one are people invested in your mission? Can they tell what you're doing, what you stand for and do they want to support you too? How are you standing out in your customer service and your follow up in that service that you're providing your clients and number three, sorry, merging into traffic, I can, I can only do so much, so much multitasking at once. Um Gosh, what was number three? Oh, number three was your brand? Are you being known for some other component in your brand that is connecting you with someone on, you know, a human friendly level and then they're like, oh yeah, by the way, she also sells this product, you should buy it from her. Those are the three ways that I think you can stand out from your competition.
You know, like I said especially for you if you're a network marketer but also for you if you do anything else that someone else can get the same, you know, maybe not the same quality, but the same Results from. So like an online classroom crafting literally anything else coaching. Why do people need to work with you? So you really think about that when you have your answer, here's your homework. You know, I'm back in school mode, I'm assigning all the homework I'm actually driving right now um to host a parent meeting for our Europe 2023 trip because I take kids abroad in the summer um when I'm able to, so we have a trip coming up next summer, so I'm heading back to school in the evening. So this is a very strange schedule for me.
But your homework is to assess yourself in those three areas and let me know, like pretend I'm your coach right now. For some of you listening, I am your coach, literally you are paying me, I am your coach, but look at those three things and message me back, how are you standing out in those ways and where do you get to improve? And I'll give you feedback, this is like free coaching. Here's your free coaching, I'll give you feedback on those. Okay, so send me those in the DMs. You can email me them as well and feel free to screenshot this message.
Guys, tag me in your stories, Tag me, tag a friend who also could use this free coaching that I'm offering you right now? I was not planning on doing that when I started this episode, but it feels right, so I'm going to do it um and share that so that I can be connected with someone else. Um because like I just mentioned, those referrals, right? Those referrals are huge and those connections with people are huge. Um That's one of the things that I teach and I would love that gift from you in return. So I hope you have a fabulous, fabulous day. I hope this helps you just to really start thinking about this. Because friend, when I started doing this in my network marketing business, when I grew it to the top, less than 1%,, I was killing it in these three areas, killing it, killing it, killing it. My gut response to you without ever seeing your answers is that you could improve and at least one of these areas and if you do that, if you go all in in that and make that your focus for the next 90 days, you could see some amazing results. So I want to hear about it, Send me your three in the DMs and we'll talk more about it. Talk to you soon.
Bye bye friend. And that's a wrap on today's episode. I hope you're leaving today inspired Princess to create own and spread your magic to the world. If you found by you in this episode or no, a girlfriend who needs to hear it, would you screenshot it and send it to her and if you're feeling really generous, pop it up on your IG. Stories and tag me @Lindsay Dollinger so I can see you loved it and tell you, thank you. I appreciate you. Now let's go do some amazing things bye bye!
