Hello and welcome back to another biz tip thursday of the purpose and pixie dust podcast. I'm Lindsay Dollinger and I haven't recorded an episode um actually live for you guys in like over two weeks. I've had bronchitis. I still have bronchitis. Um so if I cough, I apologize, I have my water here ready, but I am driving um to the State Fair, the Ohio State Fair, it has not happened the past two years because of Covid and today is the last full day and I'm like, I am going, so that's what I'm doing right now and I'm going to send you a couple um back to school business tips while I'm on my way over. So I can't even believe that I'm saying it's back to school time already. I literally have no idea where the summer went, I feel like we just got started and now it's over and it's time to get back to school. So this might not pertain to you if you don't have kids, you don't have um if you're not a teacher, you're not a, you know, education household, which is fine, but I still feel like overall in our society, the whole back to school message is one that's really strong and can be really powerful to reset our mindset into going into fourth quarter.

Really strong because fourth quarters here before we know it, so october november december, that's what we call fourth quarter, that's where a lot of sales will come into your business if you are especially product based businesses for holiday sales, but people are gearing up, I would even say right now because for that fourth quarter sales boom um if you are promoting any sort of back to school product and then a lot of times like the Halloween and fall sorts of products you're going to be promoting now or very soon and that's slightly before fourth quarter, so it's just a really great time to kind of do like a check in mindset, check, where are you at with your goals for the year, like a goals, check and get really clear with yourself on what you need to do to move your business forward to get to that next level because if you don't have that awareness and that, that personal responsibility for your business and for your goals, no one else is right. So it's our responsibility to, you know, take control of this thing that we, we have said out loud, we have acknowledged that we want in our life, we want whatever your dream business looks like and we want it for whatever those reasons are. So that's your mindset check. Go back to your why. I know it sounds cliche, it sounds corny, I get it, I think the same things, but lately I have been really connecting with that because my wife has changed so much and I know yours has as well, but literally every more often than every year, my y changes and my goals change accordingly. So get into check, why are you doing this? What are your big goals for quarter four? For even for quarter three, let's look at quarter three the rest of the year, a quick gut check and what do we need to do to get there? And with the back to school transition in here, your schedule is probably gonna look a little different. And it's interesting because um I find largely, I feel more like quote unquote on during the school year because I'm in my, you know, my working mindset. Um and it's so interesting because I heard another podcaster, I think it was jesse lee Ward who's the top network marketer, I'm pretty sure it was her and she said in order to be successful in your business, you have to show up as though you are an employee.

And I found that so interesting because I feel like there's this, this whole Ceo culture, which I totally agree with as well that you know, you are the face and the brand of your business and if you don't show up, you know, no one else is going to show up for you, including your team, your clients, whatever that looks like, but you're not only the ceo but you also need to have that employee mindset. So going in with a day like this is my task, these are the things that I know I have to get done today, this week, this month um and really, you know, being an active part of your business and so as you are doing your goal setting, you're planning for, you know the week, the month, the rest of the year, I'd really encourage you to take some time to do this and really like map out, you can even just brain dump, so I'll take a piece of paper and I'll write the months that we have left, so I'll write august september october november december, and I'll leave some space under them and I'll put just like a brain dump like what do I have going on in those months in my business and my personal life um because for example, um december, I will be in Madrid training teachers on how to lead student trips abroad, like that's my teacher, my teacher award of my life um so I know that I'm gonna be out of the country the last week of december, so anything that I do in december is going to be largely the front end of december, which it usually is anyway, because, you know, a lot of people aren't necessarily buying between christmas and New Years unless you have like a health sort of supplement or something like that um or people are using gift cards, that's like the other, like, you know, they're using cash they got for money, but a lot of gift buying is done, you know, beginning parts in december, so I know that for me, I want to get my stuff done at the beginning of december, same thing, I have a couple different conferences I'm speaking at and some other trips I'm taking. Um so I like jot those down in those months and then I'm, you know, putting my goals, like right now I have the doors to my ceo collective mastermind, that is all I'm focused on in august, completely, all in august. Um and then for the rest of the months, truthfully, at this point, I don't really know what my next launch looks like because I am so focused on these women who are joining me in the mastermind, I do know that I will be showing up each month for the training and my membership group, so I have my membership written down, that's only a couple hours every, you know, every month, so that doesn't take up, oh, I guess it's more than a couple hours, but you know, a handful of hours, but as far as like launching the products, I might just put like a brain dump of these are some small groups that I might run, but I listen a lot too, my intuition into what my, my community is telling me, I'll probably do a black friday master class. So I'll put that on there because that went over really well last year. Um, so what I'm saying is I'll just kind of do an overall, you know, bird's eye view of my business as my friend Brittany sterling, she's been on the show a couple of times, she said on her last podcast interview, one of her coaches said that or encouraged her to take the airplane view the 10,000 ft view of your business and you know of your life, like what season are you in right now and looking at that as you're going into that, back to school time. So then once you're really clear on, you know, like for me, I said august is my like all in months, which has been really difficult because I've had bronchitis and been sick, but it's my all in month, it's also my back to school months. So I know august is like probably not the time for me to plan like a happy hour every night with my friends even though I would love to do that. You know, like I am doing a happy hour next week with a couple of my friends, but like it's not my time to like shut off and use, you know, use a ton of my personal time. Is that making sense? So it's not like my playtime.

However, excuse me then august, I'm going um to a conference for work and then I'm staying over the weekend because it's in Orlando, so I'm staying over the weekend and I'm staying an extra day. We're going to Disney World. So like that's my fun day, right? Um, so I'm not saying you can't plan in those fun things and I definitely want you to do that because I don't want you to get burnt out. That's the fun. That's the pixie dust in your business and your life. So take some time as you're in this back to school season and this flurry of excitement and maybe dread depending on, you know what that's like in your family. Um, take some time and really plan. I know a lot of what I share comes down to planning, that's truly how I've been able to belt a couple six figure businesses is by planning because if you're not planning and you don't have a clear idea and a clear vision of where you're headed. You don't need to know all the pieces. You don't need to know how you're getting there. Like I just shared. I don't know all of my fault offerings yet. I just don't because I'm so focused on like the one thing I want you to think about, what's your one thing, what's your one thing in your business mind is launching my mastermind and then we'll be running my mastermind. So what is your one thing that you feel passionate about that you feel purpose in that, you know, can bring um exceptional income to your family and let's focus on that and how can you focus on that as you're going back to school? When are you going to put in your work time? What is your schedule now going to look like? Like I have to be way more intentional now because I'm also training for a marathon um, oh and I have a half marathon, I'm running in october, middle of october. Um, so okay, there's like a band of Harley's passing me right now, so it's gonna be a, which they are driving way too fast by the way, but I digress. So I know that especially later on this fall, I'm going to be having like my weekends. So if, if you don't know how training for a long distance run works, you essentially, and most plants have it on the weekends, but you, you do your long run on the weekend. So you do a couple of quote unquote short runs through the week, which the short runs will always take me an hour to anyway. I'm, I'm not a fast runner, so, you know, two nights a week, once I get home from work, I'm pretty much gonna be running doing dinner, taking care of my dog and maybe maybe a little bit for my business, but those two days are probably not going to be business days for me, so I'm gonna have a solid like monday Wednesday friday where when I get home from work, I am laser focused on my business. Um Tuesdays are my podcast recording days, my podcast recording takes about an hour. That will also be a running day. So I know when I get home, that's the day where um I will be recording my podcast sometime, usually between four and six and then I'm probably gonna be running and it'll be like a late night for dinner, so like visualizing and knowing that and being aware of that ahead of time and knowing like I said on my weekend, the longest run that I do is like 23 miles in december um and that's like a six hour chunk of my day. So I know you know like on a saturday, some Saturdays, well most Saturdays or Sundays one day is completely going to be consumed with running and I'm fine with that because I know that this is like this is a one and done dream for me, let's be clear, like I love running half marathons, I'm definitely a half marathon distance runner. Um I do not foresee myself, although it could change, but I do not foresee myself becoming a marathon runner anytime soon, but this was just something on my bucket list. So I know this is just a season that I'm in where? Alright one day, each weekend is gonna be my run day and I also have to play in advance because I can't skip those so if I know um you know I'm going to be out of town for a weekend, an entire weekend, I'm probably gonna do that run on a friday or um I have a our supplication our retreat that is in northern Kentucky, I'm going to be talking about it way more on my social beginning of september once the mastermind spots are full because I don't want to like cross promote things too much. Um and we only have a few spots left anyway because a lot of women signed up in the spring, but anyway that's the last weekend of september beginning of october so I know that like my run that day will be on the sunday when I get home from Kentucky, you know what I'm saying? So like I already know that I already know when I'm running one day is october 2nd, I think I already know my plan for october 2nd, we leave the house at 10, it's a two hour drive home, I have to pick my dog up from my dad's, you know, I'll get home in the afternoon I'll have to put in laundry and then I will have to go for a, it's probably gonna be a 10 mile ish run um when I get home, because my half marathon is a couple weeks from that, so like, see what I'm saying about planning, like going ahead and planning that out and then there is no, or very little room for me to fail at that, like, because nothing else is gonna come up unless it's, you know, God forbid car trouble or you know, something like that, which hopefully will not happen. I'm putting that in the universe, it will not happen, but I'm allowing myself like, okay, I know I'm not planning anything else that day because those are my two things, I have to do, wrap up the retreat and get home and do my run. So, having that, having that, those tasks already laid out, I recommend no more than three things a day and if you have my planner and tracker, you know that um I'm actually in the process of uploading a like, kind of just like a cleaner version with my updated branding onto amazon um I will keep you posted because the uploading, it was, it was not going over well last night. Um but anyway, you know, I love to do pick, like, the top three things to do your focus for the day. I like to do that for the week as well. These are my top areas of focus and then everything else is just extra. I had a coach one time and said everything else was just sprinkles, I think everything else is just the pixie dust, you know if you get it in great but but what are your top areas of focus for each day and plan those out? When are you going to get your workout in when you're going to get your family time in? When do you need to meal prep? When will you be at work? You know when are you going to do all of these things and plan them out now? Schedule them in now and you will be successful. You have an amazing transition for back to school and that's that. So I hope you found this helpful. I feel like I was rambling a little bit but I haven't talked to you guys in so long um which doesn't seem so long to you because I record episodes in advance but I feel like it's been a long time.
