Hi, friend. Welcome to the social selling sisterhood podcast. I am Lindsay Dahling ER and I have many titles High school, Spanish teacher, dog Mom, world traveler and direct seller. I empower women to run your direct sales businesses the right way. You can earn the money. You deserve to live the life of your dreams and travel the world. Now we got that out of the way. Let's get started. Hey, friend, how you do in this is Lindsay da Linger, and I'm back for another episode of the podcast. Today is topic is really special and so important for direct sales. And I'm gonna talk to you guys about believing in yourself. And I love the quote whether Bill, whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you're right. And, um, I have heard this pretty much on and off my whole life even before I did direct sales. But I think it's so important now because I'll tell you what, friends, if you do not believe in yourself, it is going to be impossible for you to grow your business for you to read it the top of your company. So whether you believe you can do it or whether you believe you can't. You're gonna be right. Okay. So now I want to talk to you guys about all the ways that you can increase the belief in yourself because we need to start there. And, um, the number one thing that I can tell you is you need to find people who believe in you when you're not going. Teoh. Okay, so these can be an accountability partner. This can be your up line in your company. This could be your sideline or down line or someone else in your company as well. It could be anyone, Um Who knows what you're going through. Knows the business. This can be your friend or family member. Not in the business. A lot of times. Ah, spouse, a sibling, a parent. Ah, best friend will believe in you when you have those moments where you don't believe in yourself. This can also be a coach. So maybe you have hired a coach to help you with your business. Coaches are amazing people. They're going to believe in you and those my moments when you can't now say you are in a situation where you don't have any of those. You don't have an accountability partner. You're up line has doesn't really do anything with the business. You haven't built a team yet. Those systems are in place for you, your friends and family or unsupportive. Hopefully all of that doesn't add up, but that can happen. So what are you going to do when you feel like other people don't believe in you? Either You're gonna have to believe in yourself and the top way that I have been able to increase the belief in myself and I also share with other people's to help them believe in their Selves is through personal development. Now, when I first started in network marketing, I don't even know five years ago. Now, um, I remember my up line and our team really pushing personal development heart like you have got to be listening or reading 10 to 20 minutes a day of a personal development book. And I remember at the time being like, but I only have an hour data work. My business. I don't want to spend 1/3 of that time reading a book. This is silly. I've read books my whole life. I don't need to do that. My mind's in the right place. Ebola, You know, I gave all these excuses. Um, not usually externally to her. In my mind, I'm like, I don't need that. So, uh, she started. I think it was I got started doing the personal development through a challenge, and I didn't wanna lie in this challenge and say I was doing it when I wasn't doing it. So I started doing it. She might have even mailed me a free book. I don't remember what it would have been now, cause I read so many, but she she might have mailed me a free book for winning a prize on our team. Incentives. So great. So I started reading these books. And lo and behold, there was actually truth in the personal development. It's amazing how much you can believe in yourself and believe in the product in direct sales and network marketing and how much you can learn about building relationships about how a direct sales works, how people's minds work in regards to sales. Um, through those personal development and business books, it was amazing. So I've kind of shifted. I've read a lot of the big personal development books. The compound effect, The miracle Morning. Ah, girl, wash your face. I mean, I have a whole list of them, and I'll link them in the show notes for you guys that I recommend, um, two people, especially when they're starting in direct sales for the first time. I have a whole list that I get my team, that I will gift you guys as well. So definitely check out the show notes. But, um, I kind of transition now from reading listening to these books, which you can get them on audible if you want to listen to them as well. But I have transitioned a lot more into podcasts, so I didn't really find podcasts. My very first joined my network, my very first network marketing company. But I found him a few years ago. People have been talking about him and again, I was like, I don't wanna be one of those pad castle listeners. E don't even know why I had this like idea in my mind of who listened to podcasts. But it definitely wasn't someone like me until I started listening and I got hooked. I think I probably have. I don't even know, like 100 shows on my phone. It actually, I have so many downloaded that my phone freezes and acts up all crazy now, so I really need to go through and delete some of them. But all of them are slightly different, which, you know, because you're listening to one right now, they're all slightly different. The people are all slightly different, and, you know, I have transitioned over time. And what I what? I listen to a swell There's some shows I've unsubscribed from because they don't necessarily align with the person that I am becoming. And, um, I have someone there that are just for fun, too. But the personal development podcasts are great for me because I can listen to them in the car and my commute to work. I can listen to them and the show where actually bought this waterproof blue to speaker that, like, hooks to the side of my shower. Um, I can like that in the show notes to So I listen to them in the shower. Uh, I listen to when I'm getting ready for the day. Um, when I'm doing dishes, just you know random times around the house. So they're great for me to, um, to save time because I feel like I can kind of multi tasks on some of them, and then I can also save them, and I can easily share them with my team. So podcasts and breeding personal development is a great way to increase your belief in yourself in your confidence. Whether you think you need it or not, I'll tell you right now you need it. So I told my team I really encourage them. And I know there are ladies that are not listening to personal development. Podcasts are not getting, you know, that believe in their self from other people. They're not learning those business tips and tricks that you can here quickly from a podcast. And honestly, they're missing out. So kudos to you guys for listening to this, So podcasts are great, right? Great way without relying on another actual person in your life, I guess, to to gain that belief Now. Another thing that I find really helpful when I'm finding myself not believing in myself is I write down either things that I am grateful for, whether that's just in my life in general or grateful for in my business, I write down the successes I've had and every success, whether it's bigger, small gets written down. So it can be that you gave out a new sample. It can be you had a repeat client. It could be that you remember to schedule your posts for the week. It can be something really big. You hit that new rank that you've been trying to hate. You got a bonus in your company or could be something really small. So write those down in some sort of journal. It can be, you know, on a no pad. It can be in the sight of your planner wherever write those down and track those actually track them. It's really nice. I try to do this every quarter to look back and see where, how I have grown over the quarter and guys news flash some quarters I haven't grown, especially when before I was taking my business seriously, my direct sales business seriously, I wasn't really growing. I was just maintaining, and so I didn't have those big the big rank achievements. I didn't have a big income achievement, but I had some sort of success, right? I had at least one person joined my team or I had at least one new customer, if not multiple. Right? So those are those successes that you need to track. Now, let's talk about people in your life that can help you with this belief in yourself. Because again, whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you're right. So I highly encourage you to find an accountability partner. This can be someone on your team. It can be. Actually. You know what? I would encourage it not to be someone like in your down line or direct sideline of those the smaller team you're on. I would encourage you to look into the bigger teams you're on. Maybe you're up lines, up lines, team or whatever you know, But someone who is not like to to close to you because you're gonna want this accountability partner to be there for you to do a weekly check in. So I recommend you set up a time. So my accountability partner, she also sells the same product that I sell, But she's on a team I don't even know. Maybe like three up lines above means team. So we only have that one team page in common. Um, and we check in on Mondays, we send each other voice memo. Sometimes they're longer. You know, things happen sometimes shorter, but we do a weekly check in. What's your goal for the week? How are you doing for the week? How many parties have you had? How many stylists in after we do that? Check in and let each other know how how things were going in our goals. We then brainstorm together. Okay, I'm having a really hard time this month finding parties. What are you doing? What's worked for. You only bounce ideas off each other. We also can then swap trainings that we purge. Since we are in some different team pages, their run differently so she can tell me things that she has seen over the past week that I haven't and I can share things with her. And so having an accountability partner again, that's not too close to you. Like I wouldn't do anyone that you have sponsored. That's probably not gonna be an accountability partner, but someone else who is going through similar challenges with you. And you know what, guys? It doesn't even have to be someone in the same selling. The same product is you. Maybe it's just something similar. So, um, I could pair with someone selling skin care, because that's not what I'm selling, but it's still in the beauty industry. It's still making women feel nice, and it's still probably a party planning company. So find an accountability partner that can hold you and check and can also call you out on like, Hey, you said you were going to get a party booked this week and you did it. What can we do to get to their Okay, So find someone like that for you? I also encourage you to when you're signing up. Hopefully, you did this when you signed up, but you haven't up line that you can check in with that. You convince, too, because no one likes to see that person on a team page who is always venting who is always negative, who's always complaining. That's not the space for that. What is the space for? That is a message to Europe line saying, Hey, Jessica, I know I can share this with you because it's a safe space. I'm feeling really discouraged in my business right now. I'm stuck in X Y Z area. Can you help me get out of this funk? That's what they're therefore guys. And you know what? They're gonna believe in you. They're going to say, Yeah, I get that. Been there, done that girl. Let's brainstorm. Here's what we can dio So that's that's kind of the role of your up line. There there is your mentor. They're there to point you in the right direction, and they're there for you, no matter what, friend or family, not in the business. Now some people will have a friend or family, not in the business that can do those things that I've already mentioned that can keep you on check. That can remind you to leave your business during business hours. And when you're doing, you know, when you have two movies when you're a dinner, they can remind you to put your phone away and be present. Some people don't have that role, but if you have a friend or family member who is not in your business, reach out to them and asked them like Hey, um can you check with in with me at the end of the week and make sure I've done X y z or I'm really trying hard right now to hit this goal so I might be a little, um, disconnected the next week, just giving you a heads up. That's gonna happen. And then after this goals done, then I am taking I'm rewarding myself by happy hour or whatever it ISS. But if you can have a friend or family member not in the business do that for you, I think you're gonna really appreciate it. And then the last person is a coach. So if you have a coach, your coach, I mean, that's pretty much their job is to believe any right and to encourage you and instill that believe in yourself. So a coach is someone that is there to bounce ideas off of, to strategize with you to give you some tough love to give you those good vibes and those good vibes and those high fives. That's hard to say fast to try to do that best. Um, but they're there for you, right? You're literally paying them money to believe in you and to make you believe in you, so use them. If you have them and you're paying them, use them. If you get boxer access every 24 hours to them, use them like that's what they're there for. Okay, So don't be afraid to use your coach. You're paying them for that reason in the very last thing for believing in yourself. Oh, man, things were falling. Here we go is in the sound kind of weird, but having a healthy lifestyle. So I have always found, and I've heard other people say this to you. So I know it's not just me that when I'm eating healthy, meaning I am eating as clean as possible. I'm not eating late at night. I'm eating foods that I know digest well for me and give me energy. I'm fueling my body. And when I am getting exercise, which doesn't have to be like super hard core whatever, it's just you moving your body right when I am sleeping enough, which for me, I'm an eight hour tonight girl of sleep. During the school year. It's usually seven hours, and I tell you what, I need my weekends to catch up So I'm an eight hour night of sleep. So no, how much sleep you need tonight? So doing those things, eating, healthy, moving your body, sleeping all of that will help you get in the right mindset and give you the energy that you need to run your business so that you can believe you can. Because otherwise, guys, if you are running on minimal sleep, if you're not getting that exercise and you're feeling this like nervous energy and stress built up because I don't know about you, But exercise is a great way for me to really stress. Um, so when all those things air building up, you're not eating rights, you don't feel well. It's going to be almost impossible for you to get in the right frame of mind in the right mindset. So make that a priority. It doesn't have to be something that takes up a lot of time. You can take a little bit of time on your Sunday. I like to meal plan on Sundays in meal prep to take a little bit of time, plan out your meals schedule in your workouts or when you're gonna walk. Um, I had a friend. Just gift us a treadmill with soul awesome of her. And it's been great, because even through the winter, I was able to respond to client messages and send my love bombs in my relationship, building messages on my phone while I was walking on my treadmill. Such a time saver. So get something like that. Figure out ways you can work it in. I've also had to cancel gym memberships because I realized I kind of live out in the country and my drive time waas over an hour round trip. And so by the time I did that, and then do my workout and got home in the evenings because I am also working as a Spanish teacher, So I work, you know, normal teacher hours. Um, I just didn't have time to do. That's and I work out at home, so you've got to find ways to fit that in, and all of that will get you in the right mindset so that you're feeling good and can't believe in yourself, cause it's gonna be really hard to have a positive mindset if you're tired. If you don't feel well, if you're not moving your body if you have no energy, right, So definitely take care of yourself So quick. Summary. Some things you can do to improve belief in yourself are listen to podcasts that you're already doing. High five personal development by reading or listening to it. Have an accountability partner schedule those weekly check ins know when they're happening, make goals with them and then, you know, hold yourself to them. Haven't up line. You can check in to invent to find offender, friend or family member. Not in the business to keep you in check and remind you to leave your business at your business during your business hours. Get a gratitude journal where you can write down things that you are thankful for. Track your success in your business, no matter how big or how small. Invest in a coach who is someone a bounce. Ideas off of strategize. Hold you accountable and give you tough love and make sure you have a healthy lifestyle. You're eating healthy. You're moving your body, you're sleeping and you're getting in the right frame of mind so that you have endless energy to devote to all of your passions. Alright, guys, I hope you found this super helpful. If you did, you take a screen shot and share it on your instagram or Facebook stories. Tag me. I would love to see it shared. And I hope all of those can help you believe in yourself so that you can go to the top and cheap all of your goals. All right, guys, have a great day and I'll talk to you all soon. Bye bye.
